Health Insurance

The WFU Center for Global Programs and Studies requires that all students verify with their current health insurance provider if their plan will provide overseas coverage. Students are also required to carry the HTH Worldwide Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan.

Please find the section below that applies to you for more information.

Wake Students Covered by WFU Student Blue:

If you are covered by Student Blue through Wake Forest University, you have coverage during the summer. The spring semester coverage is Jan. 1 – July 31 and the fall coverage is Aug. 1 – Dec. 31.

You should download this informational sheet, which is a listing of doctors/hospitals for each location (London, Venice and Vienna).  This sheet also provides a website where you can find other health providers while abroad. You will need their insurance card with you. If you need assistance, you can call the number on the back of your card listed as “Locate Non-NC Provider”. We advise you to make copies of your health insurance card in case you lose it while abroad.

Wake Students NOT covered by WFU Student Blue:

If you are not covered by Student Blue through Wake Forest University, you will need to contact your insurance company to ensure you will have coverage while abroad.

If your health plan does not cover you abroad, you should look into purchasing a supplemental plan while you are abroad. Please visit  Wake Forest University’s Center for Global Programs and Studies for more information and reference materials on study abroad health insurance. Once you click on the link above, scroll down to find the section called “Study Abroad Insurance” and Click on “HTH Policy Information” This website provides options for purchasing supplemental health insurance to cover you while your abroad.
